How a Drone Inspection is Performed

Real flight over a container terminal: flying over cranes, wharves, and operational areas to document their status.

Which Structures Do We Inspect?

We cover key port infrastructure assets in their above-water section accessible via drone inspection.

๐Ÿงฑ

Wharves & Jetties

Slabs, beams, fenders, and mooring bollards.

๐Ÿชต

Piles & Foundations

Concrete, steel, and timber piles in visible and tidal zones.

๐ŸŒŠ

Breakwaters & Dykes

Shelter works, riprap armor layers, and precast concrete elements.

๐Ÿ”ฉ

Metallic Components

Bollards, fenders, ladders, walkways, and structural fixings.

๐Ÿšฆ

Beacons & Signaling

Aids to navigation and port signaling elements.

๐Ÿ”Œ

Networks & Utilities

Power supply, fire suppression systems, and quay drainage.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Cargo Cranes

STS and yard cranes (RTG): structure, cables, and travel tracks.

๐Ÿข

Technical Buildings

Sheds, control booths, and quay-side foundations.

Port Cranes Inspected by Drone

Real photos of Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes and Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) yard cranes handling containers in port terminals.

Our Inspection Process

We follow a standardized methodology aligned with port regulations and ROM recommendations in four key phases.

  1. 01

    Planning

Reviewing drawings, historical inspection logs, and defining scope based on asset type and risk profile.

  2. 02

    Field Inspection

High-resolution drone flights over the entire above-water structure, collecting georeferenced photos and video.

  3. 03

    Damage Assessment

Classifying defects by severity and urgency, evaluating expected degradation and operational risk.

  4. 04

    Report & Action Plan

Delivering a technical report with prioritized maintenance actions and indicative repair budgets.

Sample Inspection Checklist

Every structural element is assessed against a standardized verification checklist.

Element Status Observations
Concrete Piles โ€” Berth 3 Good No cracking or visible rebar corrosion
Cone Dock Fenders Monitor Surface friction wear, functional performance intact
Mooring Bollards โ€” North Jetty Urgent Loose anchorage bolts, risk of failure under tensile load
Cap Beam Slab Monitor Superficial shrinkage cracking, no water ingress
Metallic Access Ladder Good Anticorrosive protective coating in sound condition

Damage Severity Classification

Defects are categorized by severity to help managers prioritize maintenance spending.

Good

No significant defects. Standard preventive maintenance schedule.

Minor

Superficial or cosmetic wear. Structural capacity unaffected.

Monitor

Defect requiring tracking during upcoming periodic inspections.

Urgent

Structural or safety risk. Requires immediate corrective intervention.

Inspection Report Overview

Each inspection campaign is summarized in a dashboard displaying overall infrastructure health.
